You don’t have to show up perfectly coordinated or worry about how your kids will behave. Family sessions are meant to be relaxed, playful, and a little bit unpredictable.
We’ll start up by the dunes to grab your classic family portraits while everyone is fresh, then head down toward the water where the kids can run, explore, and the real moments can unfold. I work quickly and intuitively, capturing both the portraits you’ll frame and the in-between moments that make your family yours.
By the end of the evening most families tell me it felt more like a beach walk than a photoshoot.

Your session investment covers the experience and your digital images. North Carolina sales tax and travel north of Hatteras Island (if applicable) are the only additional costs.
Full sessions take place in the evening, about an hour before sunset when the light is soft and most flattering. Each session is 60+ minutes, allowing time for both classic portraits and more relaxed, candid moments.

I'm an Outer Banks photographer based on Hatteras Island. For over a decade I’ve been photographing the families, couples, and seniors who come here to slow down, be together, and enjoy this stretch of coast.
My approach is relaxed and intuitive, focused on real connection rather than perfect poses. I love the joy that comes from families simply being together, so my sessions are designed to feel easy and fun rather than overly structured.
When I’m not photographing families, you’ll probably find me surfing, spending time in Central America, making the occasional TikTok, at yin yoga in Hatteras Village, or on the porch at Breakwater at sunset with an elderflower margarita.
